WHA CHEW WEARN SUNDAY, 6 August 2017

Postby Mortuus » August 6th 2017, 2:08am

Going with one of my vintage pieces today, a beautiful automatic TIMEX, with one of the most unusual clasps I've ever seen...

...amazing what a little light morphing can do to enhance even a classic timepiece...

The rotating chapter ring... Does the crown screw down and if not how easily does it rotate? I had a watch with a rotating chapter ring and it would rotate on it's own... piece of shit.

The Seiko Landmonster I own has one but the crown screws down.

I worry that PVD will wear out and look awful. This one one was only $125 at Winners (TJMaxx in Canada) so I took the chance. Today I went back to the same store and they had the same one for $299.

The chapter ring sits in place surprisingly well. The crown has a bit of friction for adjusting so it doesn't float or easily get bumped. But it but does not screw down so I would not rely on it for critical timing; It's not as solid as a typical divers bezel.
