New Gulfman for me today. My old one that I have had for the past tenyears is in the back ground. It is still on the original battery. One tough watch.

Thank you Mort. The Yellow does draw quite a bit of attention. I do enjoy wearing it... Today I'm going a bit more subtle with blue. Love the Timex Expedition...

Nice watch A.F. even though the New York Mets color scheme makes me ill.

Looks like you got the hang of imgur. :)

I've been toying with putting my Spaceview on a green exotic skin (gator or croc most likely, maybe ostrich). Looks great in the background of your 214 here - so cool, I can almost hear it...

(The tuning fork hums in F#, BTW)

I love the picture, Nuvo, but I have to wonder who it was in the Ferrari Marketing Department (or, more appropriately, Dipartimento di Marketing Ferrari) who thought it was a good idea to put a FIAT sticker on the front of a Ferrari Formula I racer...as I seem to recall, FIAT is an acronym which stands for Fix It Again, Tony...

Oh - paisan, it's true, but no more crazy che toto cosa italiano BUT in 1969 Fiat took a 50% stake in Ferrari until Il Commendatore checked out in 1988 when Fiat's stake in Ferrari increased to 90%.

This chassis was formerly Michael Schumacher, and built and raced while Ferrari was still under Fiat's guardianship - so the get TOP billing, if they ask for it.

However, in January of 2016 Ferrari was finally spun off as an independent stand-alone brand with its own IPO and a divestiture from Fiat.

The timing seems about right... this may not be the best time to be associated with Fiat-Chrysler now...

Too bad Porsche lost their way in the melt-down era - their optimistic leveraged buy-out attempt to acquire VW-proper was actually looking good until the markets turns and their financing vaporized Porsche had a margin call with a liquidity gap that represented more than they could actual pay.

Ferry Porsche's newphew (and former Porsche motorsports director) Ferdinand Peich was, at the time of the financial crisis, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Volkswagen Group... And he enabled Porsche to survive by folding what was at the time the only independent global sportscar manufacturer, into the empire that is VW.

Today, Ferrari emerges as the unlikely occupant of that lonely role.

There are others - McLaren & Morgan come to mind - but they are largely considered to be more along the lines of craftsmen - specialty builders - than a global manufacturer willing to crash a few for federalization.

You know, I thought it might be something like that, though it still remains a rather jarring sight, truth to tell... As to the rest of the rant, I enjoyed it immensely. Good Automotive Education is difficult to find out here in the ether... 8-)
