1960 BAUME & MERCIER "Baumatic" Swiss watch, with very unusual textured dial and blued hands, a 'la Louis Breguet, who first invented the process of bluing steel watch parts. Equally unusual is its amazing caliber B/M 12800 30-jewel automatic movement, with micro-rotor and date function, a highly innovative idea that reduced the movement's volume and allowed for a much thinner watch. Several other companies developed their own "micro-rotor" movements, but there was some question about the smaller rotor being unable to provide enough kinetic motion to adequately charge the power reserve, and interest in the concept waned. It was later proven that rotor size had nothing to do with how much kinetic energy could be generated and stored, something the vast majority of men intuitively knew already...

Some great photos this weekend. Great watches, too.

On the wrist for over a week. Everything is packed up for the move this week.
