Edouard Heuer — founder of the watch company known today as TAG Heuer — was the inventor of the oscillating pinion. This component is key in the construction of many chronograph movements as it is the component that lies at the center of the system for the starting and stopping of the chronograph.

In this exclusive video, we visit the Swiss town of Chevenez, near the French border, to observe how TAG Heuer watchmakers assemble all of the components of a watch movement. We will offer an up-close view of many of these components, with a particular focus on the column wheel and the oscillating pinion — two pieces that are usually covered by the bridges of the finished TAG Heuer watch.
