SOLD-Bernhardt Binnacle Anchor in orange/white WTT

Postby biglove » January 16th 2014, 3:58pm

I purchased the watch from Bernhardt last year and have worn it occasionally. The bracelet is magnificent and love the colors. I paid $274 with shipping on 05/02/2013

Two things have turned me off to it over the last 24 hours. First, the lume on the hands is abysmal. Then last night I figured out, while winding it up, that the movement actually has a calendar function that is hidden by the face...and my OCD went berserk. Now every time I look at it I want to see the date that I know is there but has been hidden. Yes, it is hell in my head at times, to borrow a comment from "Big Bang Theory." Damned OCD...

Box, papers and removed links included.

This is a fine watch. One of you bastards should jump on this forthwith.

Thanks Conj...

Sorry the pics are so crappy...cell phone.

There are a couple of light swirls on the bracelet and desk diver marks on the clasp, of course. Crystal is flawless. Sorry for the smudges, fingerprints and dust. The high polish sure lends itself to showing all that!

Wish I had something to trade.

Ha! That tablet didn't get 20 hours use in the year I had it, sadly.

Why in the hell would they cover a date feature? Nice watch btw, always loved that anchor second hand.

Was considering sending Fred Amos a email to ask. He seems like a nice enough guy and am sure he would explain.

The Binnacle II has a date which I presume means it was just a face redesign.

From what I have read, Fred designed the original Anchor as a watch for himself.

I actually prefer the face without the clutter of the date window. Would be pretty unbalanced without that big number 3.

My Magrette Brass watch was the same: no date window, but with hidden date function. I would venture to say there are quite a few dateless watches out there with hidden date functions

Sweet Jeebus! Don't they realize how that fucketh with those of us with the OCD?!

I was mortified by it. Yes, I had read of it being done for aesthetics; but, not on my watch, please!

Wonder if Fred would sell me a blue date face I cold replace mine with?

When I interviewed Fred he told me this watch (Binnacle Anchor White/Orange) was the model he wore the most. Had a Corsair on the day I met him, though!

I owned one and loved it - this should find a new home quickly!

Oh, I can relate.

The movie "As Good As it Gets," is my own personal nightmare. I refuse to go that far!
