Invicta-still spouting bullshit about being swiss.

With its most inspired creations yet, Invicta demonstrates its technical and design prowess, offering timepieces of style for extreme value.

"We have long held firm to the belief that supremely crafted timepieces can be offered for extremely modest sums. It is the founding principle of our flagship and the radical notion that still drives us today. By being true to our convictions, we will continue to turn the balance of power, and deliver true Swiss luxury to anyone who desires it. Let all those who possess our timepieces and pass through our doors witness the quality, value and care in every piece we create, and the spirit of never-ending possibilities in everything we do."

These are the words that greet visitors and motivate team members inside the Invicta Watch Group's new worldwide headquarters. Emblazoned in stainless steel, it has been the Invicta message since Day One.

With each new timepiece, the company sends up a flare for those looking to be defined not by how much they spend, but how wisely they spend. With its strong collections, the gutsy Swiss brand is guaranteed to keep attracting followers.

The art of the craft. Inside an Invicta Workshop

It takes years of training and a great deal of pride to achieve glorious Swiss timepieces by hand. But it takes guts and the courage of your convictions to make those timepieces affordable for everyone who appreciates them.

At our Swiss workshops, we mix time-honored traditions with a little bit of horse sense every single day to produce the greatest values in the watch-making world.

I always wondered how Invicta gets around the Swiss Federation rules. And haven't the Swiss changed the rule that they have to be like 60% Swiss now? The stats on Shop Hq claim the country of origin for a lot of Invictas is Switzerland. Surely sticking a 12 buck Ronda quartz movement into an oversized case isn't enough to qualify, is it?

Chinese cases are so cheap that the value of the Swiss movement plus the Swiss labour can exceed the cost of the rest of the watch, hence the watch may 'legitimately' be labeled Swiss Made.

Ohh, bosc ... it perplexes me past the point of reason.

Particularly during those few moments of weakness when i log onto that fucking WIT website. Why I do this to myself is a mystery I can't self-understand; I suffer from slight hypertension, and reading those threads of gushing fan boi stupidity mixed with tastelessness sets off off like few other things. IWG customers have been blatantly lied to, overcharged, and sold a rancid, festering bill of goods to go with their bill of goods - products that, in most cases, clearly can't be fixed by the people who sold the watches; basically, IWG has simply chosen not to. Yet, the sheeple come back for more; can't get enough. As I wrote the other day, there's one Skeezix there that wrote a love poem to all the ShopFuhQ TV hosts.

But back to the topic at hand - virtually every actual Swiss watch company is quite upfront about where and how their products are made; even the Swatch group goes to great lengths to discuss (if not display) their manufacturing practices. Smaller brands like Atlantic and Claude Bernard offer actual YouTube videos of their Swiss headquarters. Yet, IWG is the only company I know of in the free world that claims to be something, then goes out of its way to tell its own customers: "These are Swiss made because we say so, and it's none of your fucking business otherwise." Imagine this in any other industry; it's like selling Temerity Brand (TM) Muskrat Entrails Butter on TV, but calling it Temerity Brand Peanut Butter. When someone chomps down on their MEB&J and says, "This doesn't taste like peanuts," imagine the makers of Temerity Brand Peanut Butter, in reality full of muskrats, saying, "Well, you're lucky to get what you're eating. It is what we say it is. We don't have put the ingredients on the label; just finish that fucking sandwich and STFU."

Well, fuck Invicta. People have asked questions about who makes their "Swiss Made timepieces" for more than decade, and they have yet to answer that question in a straightforward and honest way. Just once that I can remember - and I'd wager it was a classic Michael Davis fuck-up - the pasty, gray, twitching "Technical Brand Manager" actually stated that a late-period auto Lupah had been assembled and cased by Sellita. Why he'd state that over the watch is confusing - but it came not all that long after the now-legendary Speedway D/D debacle, which told volumes about the level TV hucksters will stoop to sell a watch, complete with tales so tall they made Paul Bunyan look like Edwin Newman.

I continue to insist that if an Invicta watch says "Swiss Made" on its face, it ain't. We could dredge up the photos of the Chinese watches that were marked "Swiss," of course. Or the tales of the watchmakers who discovered that same thing. Or all the other whoppers over the course of the past five years. And the photos, on their own sales website, ShopUckPatooie, that over and over again show "Swiss Made" watches with horrible finishes and missing chrono hands. Over and over again!

So, once again, I state:

Image

And that's why in 2015, I am rooting for a certain person to uncover all this blatant bullshit and tell the public what's really going on ...hopefully .... the one person, even after all this other crap has hit the fan, who could come right out and tell people, in plain language, what's really "Swiss Made":

Saw ref: to Speedway D/D issue, and wondering what speaking of,as I agree on Invicta in general, though own few,but 1 I do own&have always believed to be best watch they made since Lalo, the COSC Speedway. Also still have all COSC paperwork that appears legitimate to me, and all numbers match. Am I wrong that this watch is a very well-built watch?

"Yep" and telling me it's a piece of shit and they saw me coming, tells me nothing. Nothing other than, and I can understand this, that Invicta is a horrible company! However, I've been collecting and wearing nice watches all my life, and I am 51 years old. I've never had a problem with the watch, it runs finale, I personally love the fit and finish of the watch and I was in the metal refinishing business, for decades, So I also know a little bit about metals and the finishing of them. So tell me, why do you say that particular watch, COSC Speedway, is a piece of shit in your eyes? That would be very helpful! And very appreciated! Thank you, Dennis PS – did get a special deal from one of vice presidents at time due to a problem with another order. Saved an extra $500.

This isn't the Dubois-Depraz fiasco watch is it?

If one of the early Invicta COSC watches with a 7750 it probably is a good watch. But don't look to Invicta for service when the time comes.

I get confused when old threads are resurrected-but there was a time when Invicta put out a good watch on occasion.
If yours is one of them enjoy it. But look elsewhere for service.

No, it is the 37 Jewel, Swiss ETA,2892-A2 off the top of my head. I know it is the 2890 series, and not a spot not decorated including blue rotor , but without doublechecking I wouldn't swear to 2892, Just 2890 series 37 Jewel chronograph. I'll be honest, I've worn Daytonas, and I'd rather have this watch on my wrist. Personally don't care about name, I care about quality, and personally also like that it is a Watch with a date, a see-through back to a beautiful movement, and a little bit of decoration on the dial, though oil pressed, gives it a little pop. Also love the size and weight, and couldn't be more comfortable.

No doubt their service as well as customer service, to put it plainly, sucks! This particular watch on the other hand, I do get service somewhere else.

There are many good examples of Invicta watches. They have dropped exponentially in quality over the years. Yours is an early version and , no doubt , a great watch. Enjoy it, but understand that the Invicta name carries a lot of negative feelings, and rightfully so.

Would rather wear an NVICTA than a Rolex, because of the quality. You, sir, know a quality Watch and no mistake.

Never said it was a higher-quality watch than a Rolex! Please don't put words in my mouth, thank you! What I said is I like this watch more than the Daytona, because I like having the date, and I like the see-through back with a very highly decorated movement. I also said I like the little bit of decoration on the dial, as the Daytona really doesn't do it for me, but it's a higher-quality watch! I never said anything different! As for the other individual now I am not here to try to convince you didn't act is not crap! That's why I don't buy them anymore! That's why I got rid of 99% of what I had of Invicta watches, and even made a little money! But I do have a couple that I find that I am not only like, but in the case of the speedway, I find it to be a well-built watch with a good movement! We're talking less than $2000 however versus over $10,000 on the Rolex!

It is very unfortunate that your opinion is so tainted by your, what I expect have been horrible experiences with Invicta, just like me! I can also see unfortunately that your hate for Invicta overwhelms your open-mindedness to a particular watch and whether it is a quality watch or not. And once again, Never said it was a better watch than Rolex, originally I actually just asked if it was a good watch, main word being "asked" But like I said I'd rather wear it then a Daytona! Personally I don't like Rolex! There are a couple, but very few and far between! Much rather have an Omega! Frankly it appears, for the one who commented that I joined only to convince or prove that my Invicta is a good watch, is only here to try and prove that invicta is not anything but a piece of shit, no matter what Invicta , and 99% of them are shit , But what a waste of time and effort, to be here just to say bad things! The F that the Better Business Bureau gave them, kind of takes care of that for you !

There are far more good quality Invicta's from their past than their present. As Foggy pointed out, if you ended up with a Swiss movement inside, then it's probably okay. Lately they have been using the Seiko-built NH35A movement, and the quality vs. cost ratio isn't too bad for the most part. Either way, it's definitely best to seek service elsewhere, like your local watch repair shop.

I did very recently pick up an Invicta pro-diver with the Sellita SW-200 movement for a price that I thought had to be a typo: $189. I'm a sucker for green watches (and Conjurer's bad jokes), so I picked it up.

I really like it, but if I have any future difficulties with it, my poor, longsuffering Watchmaker will get to fix it for me. (And it'll still take about 27 months less time to get it back. )

Have you got a picture of your Speedway you can post? It's the easiest way to tell if it was one of the D/D "Masacree" watches...

...oh, and welcome to WL.
