Agreed. Lang's view of the future from 1927 is stunning and disturbingly on point.

Lang's film M, released a few years later, was likewise a stunning piece of work, and possibly the first depiction of a serial killer in cinema. Apparently, Lang's original title, Murders Among Us, upset some Nazi bigshot, who thought the film was going to be about the Nazi party. When the Nazis found out that it was instead about a child-killer (played by Peter Lorre in his first movie role), they backed down and allowed the production to continue--although possibly also due to Metropolis being one of Hitler's favorite movies.
