I like Land Rover. I have one.

I think even the down under commies would appreciate my LWB RR County.

That's pretty cool, Dr. Smells. I especially like the concrete elephant to the right. Please provide all details about the elephant, and do it goddamn fast, you savvy??

Many might think it represents party affiliation. There may be a convergence there among me, party affiliation, and cement yard design, ... but there is more to the story.

My Grandma and father were legal imports to this fair nation state. Grandma was a war bride from England. Loxley to be specific and my dad, pops, was born in Stratford (yes, where Shakespeare came from and so forth). . .

When grandpa left to fight in the war his brothers ran their gas stations into the ground and grandpa returned home (stateside/ this side of the pond) with the need to support his family. He took a job with the Southern Pacific Railroad as a foreman.

Grandpa, Grandma, and Dad traveled the Oregon Coast in a caboose converted into a family home working "on the railroad" .. .yes, all the lifelong day. When Grandpa saved up enough money he purchased a new home in SE Portland and transferred to the Portland Rail Yard. When Dad was is in high school, Packy (no racial slur intended) was born to the Portland Zoo.

Grandma loved Packy. In Portland, Packy's birth yielded all kinds of commemorative products including cement elephants. Grandpa brought this elephant home to grandma one day after work in the early 1960's and proudly displayed in the backyard (good place as by the 1990s it would have been stolen from the front yard).

Fast forward to the late 2000's. Grandma moved into assisted living. Before selling her home, I transplanted her beloved painted cement critters to my yard.

Unfortunately, Packy was euthanized by the Portland zookeepers last week due to his tuberculosis diagnosis.

There you have it Conj. The transparent truth. And yes, I be a Republican.

A truly fascinating and heart-warming story, Dr. Smells. And to think, it came about all due to the fact that I was being a obtuse jagoff!

Dang! That looks like Glenn after Negan bashed his skull in with a baseball bat on Walking Dead.

Love that story Chris, I've got one of my own to branch off the OP.

Land Rover has evolved way beyond those in the video. I shudder to think what their designers are up to now. Specifically, their concept inspired the City Taxi for Judge Dredd (the first movie, 1995). I created the CG version for the flying scenes like the take-off shot below. I also modeled the flying Lawmaster cycles for the movie.

Here's more on the Rover City Taxi for Judge Dredd.
