The Misfit Phase Hybrid Smartwatch

Postby koimaster » October 18th 2016, 3:34pm

We've told you (and told you, and told you) that the smartwatch wars are just getting started. Not only don't we know whether or not smartwatches will win long term adoption, but also we don't even know what a device called a "smartwatch" will actually be in six months or a year's time. Today, Misfit has announced the Phase Hybrid Smartwatch, the wearable technology company's first product actually labeled a smartwatch and probably something different from what you'd expect. There are two hands, normal hour markers, and a tiny window at six o'clock to show you notifications. Could this be the future of smartwatches?

The Phase Hybrid Smartwatch is, at its most basic, an analog watch with some additional functions. It starts with a 41mm case that's comprised of a polished stainless steel core module, with a matte aluminum shroud over the top that includes the integrated lugs. There are no springbars and the straps have fasteners to close them around the lugs (they're still two-piece straps). They're a standard 20mm width, so you can use NATO, one-piece, or snap-around straps if you so choose. The case feels a little thick, but because of the construction it curves nicely to the wrist, and felt comfortable during the short demo I received.

With the lilt of Irish laughter

Every day and in every way

Now forever and ever after."
