The First Seiko/Epson Branded Watch

The First Seiko/Epson Branded Watch

Postby TemerityB » August 6th 2017, 8:58am

If this has been covered here before, yell at me, but this was the first I saw this.

From SEIYAJAPAN BLOG about the first Seiko Epson branded watch, due to be released in September; interesting that different factions within the company simply do whatever they feel like doing, it seems:

Image

SEIKO EPSON, Co. was the current OEM up until now,and made the that sells the Seiko brand name watch for the SEIKO WATCH company.

In other words, even though they have the name SEIKO on it, there are many watches that were actually produced by SEIKO EPSON, Co.
Astron, Grand Seiko Quartz, Springdrive....

Now, SEIKO EPSON is, for the first time, producing watches under its own company name.

This new brand is called "Trume".
Trume means "True" + "me"
Function

GPS,
Barometer,
Altimeter,
Compass,
= Through a device, "Extended sensor" =
Ultraviolet index
Temperature
Pedometer
Calorie consumption.

Prices range from 240,000-280,000 yen ($2,150-$2,500 USD).

SEIKO EPSON, Co. has accumulated all of the latest technologies from producing SEIKO brand watches.
So they made the new "Trume" brand that utilizes all of those technologies.

SEIKO EPSON didn't inform its affiliate company, SEIKO WATCH, Co., that they would be selling their own brand of watches.

SEIKO WATCH, Co. thinks it is good for SEIKO EPSON, Co. to challenge creating its own business, and is keeping an eye on them.

Interesting news

SEIKO WATCH, Co. thinks it is good for SEIKO EPSON, Co. to challenge creating its own business, and is keeping an eye on them...So they made the new "Trume" brand that utilizes all of those technologies.

I'm sure that's just what Seiko wanted; competition from the OEM company that makes their most acclaimed watches using their technology.

Seiko's keeping an eye on them-- there's the understatement of the century.
