First WL Charity Spring Auction--Two Quartzies!!

First WL Charity Spring Auction--Two Quartzies!!

Postby conjurer » January 28th 2017, 2:40pm

OK, it's springtime--well, almost springtime; I'm fucking tired of winter already, so it's close enough for me--and time for the Spring WL Charity Auctions! The proceeds of these auctions will go 75% to St. Jude's Research Hospital For Children ( https://www.stjude.org/ ) and 25% for forum upkeep and expenses. This time around I'm going to be trying something a little different: fewer watches per auction, with more pics of each one and (hopefully) better descriptions and sew Fourth. All items will be described as accurately as possible by me, along with all supplied notes from the donors. First up:

Image

Citizen Eco-Drive World Time Chronograph, ref. BY 0100-51H, Cento tomatoes not included (but they are fantastic, the best in the city.)

Also included are about a hundred straps:

Here it is on my 6.75 girly wrist for reference:

Donor's notes:

Here is the watch, a Citizen Eco Drive AT-H610 with radio control. It comes with original box but no paperwork. But here is a pdf of the user manual and setting instructions: http://www.citizenwatch-global.com/supp ... h610/e.pdf

It comes with original stainless steel bracelet that has been re-sized but all extra links are included. I have been wearing it on a variety of NATO's/leather and I shall send those along with the watch making a nice package since the lug width is 24mm. I have had the watch for about 8 months and am just not wearing it so better it goes to a good cause.

As my calipers' battery has died, here are the manufacturer's measurements:

Case size: 44m, Thickness: 16mm. Sapphire crystal, world time, radio control, all stainless. 60-minute chrono with sweep seconds hand. Big, beautiful and bold, women will see you wearing this and they'll offer you a blowjob, no error. It comes with box, all links, but as the donor says, no instructions, which are available online. Still in production, the Citizen has an MSRP of $650. The watch shows little to no wear, and would be rated 90% TZ.

Next:

Reactor Critical Mass ref. C75103

Notes from donor:

This watch is virtually brand new, maybe worn twice. Extra links are in the bottom of the cannister.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE BATTERY HAS DIED IN THIS WATCH. When it arrived, about three weeks ago, it was running, but since then the battery has run out.

Maufacturer's specs say this is 40mm, but that doesn't seem right, it looks much more like a 42mm. 13.2mm thickness. 200m WR, mineral glass, all stainless. Japanese quartz movement, I'd guess Miyota, with 60 minute totalizer, small seconds, and of course the useless 24 hour dial. I've never been a fan of this brand, but this is really a beautiful, very substantial watch. The two-tone gold colorway is very well done. No wear evident on the case or bracelet. I'd rate this at 90 TZ, low-balling it due to the dead battery.

Right, here are the rules:

The auction will run until next Friday, 3 February, ending at 8:00PM Pacific time. To bid, either post in this thread or PM me for anonymous bid. High bid wins. Ask all questions you might have here in this thread or via PM with me. All sales final. Payment via Paypal only, unless other methods are approved by me via PM. READ THIS NEXT PART CLOSELY, IT IS IMPORTANT: Winners to send 75% of the winning bid (plus postage for the watch) to me, and send the remaining 25% to Alain via the "Donate" button on the top right of each page here at WLs. This means you stupid bastards will need to head down to Radio Shack and buy yourselves a $5 calculator to figure it out. I will then forward proceeds to St. Jude's via Paypal. As postage has been biting into my income, I shall ask winners to include $10 with the winning bids they send to me to cover USPS Priority shipping. International members--i.e. forreners--can bid, but please PM me first because postage will be higher.

That's it. Have fun, and bid well, knowing that poor, sick little kids are the ones who are going to be able to walk again and see and have fun and grow up to fuck and drink like little Australians. Thanks for looking!

Indeed it is. Jolly Good show, BL. It has the potential to make my opening bid look a bit shit. Nevertheless, the secret to bidding successfully at auctions is not to get carried away in the moment and bid above one's comfort zone. So, I am steadfastly sticking to my opening bid of $35 on the Citizen.

A little over nine hours to go.

A hundred and five bucks for that Citi? Absurd!

Seventy five for the Reactor? Insanity!

Let's get into the Way-Back Machine:

Remember when you were out in the backyard, playing? You were maybe five or six. It was a fine, sunny day, in the middle of the summer. Crickets were chirping, a dog was barking--maybe it was your own doggie, named Chunks. You didn't have a care in the world, nor should you. Everything was new. Then, suddenly, you mom appears and says that you have to go with her and dad for a ride. A ride! You always loved getting into the big Buick and driving around. You dash ahead of her to the driveway, and there's your dad, as big as a mountain, and he's got your little suitcase in his hand and he's putting it into the big trunk of the Buick. But there're no other bags in there, just yours, the one mom got you at Sears. The one with Scooby Doo on it (or the Care Bears, or whatever the fuck).

And they take you to the hospital. You start getting scared. Your mom says, don't worry, you're going to have your tonsils out. It'll be fine! But it isn't fine. It was warm in the car, but now you're inside the hospital, and it feels cold. It smells funny, all clean but like chemicals. You become terrified. Mom's upset because she forgot your teddy bear and dad's upset because he'd rather lose a limb than to see you scared. Be a big boy/girl, he says.

Now imagine, you're going into the hospital because you have a heart defect that's going to fucking kill you in the next six months unless it gets fixed, or you have fucking cancer that's eating out your goddamn bones. Think of what your parents would look like when they walk you into that hospital, your little hand in their big hands, and think of what mom's thinking--will my child be around for Christmas? What will I do with the gifts I have stashed in the hall closet for his/her birthday? Imagine what your dad is thinking. Maybe he was never a church-going man, but right then he's praying to every God he can think of, promising everything he's got, and everything he'll ever have and some things he'll never have, just so you can get better.

Well, here at Watchlords we've always been generous. So consider all this and let's see some goddamn bids!
