2015 Shriners Holiday Auction--Part 6!

2015 Shriners Holiday Auction--Part 6!

Postby conjurer » November 23rd 2015, 4:21pm

Well, a couple more auctions to go before we wrap up this season's Watchlords Holiday Auction to benefit the Shriner's Hospitals for Children. So, let's jump right the fuck in, shall we, ewe Haterz?:

1) Jacques Lemans Big Date Chrono:

Sorry in advance for these and the other pics--less than optimal lighting conditions outside, as we're waiting on a pretty big rain/snowstorm here in the otherwise sunny and happy Pac NW. This one, from the old days of JL, is a very fine quartz chronograph. Perfectly sized at 40mm, 42mm w/ screwdown crown, 11mm thick. 100m WR, marked Swiss made, sapphire crystal. Chrono movement needs to be adjusted, and I monkeyed with it some and got the seconds hand aligned, but I'm not sure of the movement. Big date at twelve o'clock, very fine oyster-style bracelet with butterfly-style clasp. All in very fine condition with very few marks. Comes with box and extra links.

2) Vostok-Europe N1 Rocket:

A nice one, this; it probably dates back to the time before Craig Hester thought he could charge a grand for something made in Russia. Nice white dial, kinda-GMT fourth hand (slaved to the hour hand, not independently adjusted), rotating bezel with 24 hour scale. Signed VE multilink bracelet with single-fold deploy clasp. Russian automatic movement inside, mineral glass front and back, 100m WR. 42mm, 46mm w/screw-down crown, 13.8mm thick. No extra links, but enough to probably fit up to a 7 inch wrist. The whole thing is done is a really fine black PVD, better than a lot of plating I've seen. Comes in generic display box.

3) Timex Expedition:

You Admiral Spunk's big brother? Here you go, the Field Marshal Taffy de Spunkmeier. A perfect field watch, with Indiglo, a nice (and possibly unworn) leather/cordura strap, 42mm, 46mm w/ crown, 11.35mm thick. 100m WR, bubby, and since it's a Timex, you know it'll take a blowing and keep on going. Nice PVD black plating on this one, too. Comes in cardboard shipping box with extra NATO strap. You don't like this one? Then you're a fucking Aussie commie!

4) Vintage Seiko Automatic:

This bad boi might not quite be NOS, but it's as close as you're going to get without selling your plasma like Mongo. Very fine condition, with some small scratches on the crystal and minor pitting on the case. 36.5mm, 37mm with crown, 11.5mm thick. Aftermarket calf leather strap. This one has made the rounds on a couple of previous auctions and needs a loving, caring home. Comes in vintage Seiko clamshell box that hasn't broken, which may well make it a unique piece.

OK, on to the rules. This auction will run until Monday, 11/30, ending at 8:00PM Pacific time precisely. All sales final. High bid wins. Bid by posting in this thread or via PM. Winners, please add $5 to winning bid to help cover shipping. I will ship out ASAP after the auctions end via USPS Priority mail. Overseas buyers will have to pay additional shipping, so PM me first so we can figure it out. Proceeds donated to Shriner's Hospitals for Children http://www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org. Feel free to bump, ask questions, make jokes, break balls, in this thread, but radio silence for the final hour for last minute bids.

So, only one auction to go after this one. Let's make it count for the poor, sick kids, you cheapskate bastards!

Some good bids to start things out:

Vostok-Europe: $41.87, Smellody

Vintage Seiko: $27.33, Ocean

Jacques Lemans: $30, ofcmark

Timex: $20, fatman.

It has been relayed to me by the donor that the Vostok is sized for an eight-inch wrist, which hopefully will open things up a bit. Also, the VE was once owned by an original admin of Watchgeeks! While this interesting provenance might not be as valuable as, say, Lyndon Johnson's Rollie President, please remember that there are plenty of Texas oilmen/politicians--but there was only one Watchgeeks. Thank Jeebus.

$31.67 on the pre-Ozo JL, what with its big, honkin' date.

I had a big, honkin' date back in the 80s, and it ended with her kicking me in the pills.

Are you trying to drive the price of the VE down John? :D

It is not my watch! I deny it. I am an informant who was paid $200 a week to spy and convince others to bomb buses. I would never own a commie watch.

$41.50 on the Jaeger LeCoultre chronograph.

(That does seem like amazingly good value for a JLC)

Indeed it is, Tobes. I think you'd best keep an eye on it, or it'll get sniped!
