Elgin Avigo

Some of you may have heard of the Elgin Avigo, an unusual model from the late 1920's-early 1930's.
It was thought to be cashing in on the popularity of military styled watches of the time, like the Elgin Legionnaire and the many US models by different manufacturers.

It has recently come to light that they are in fact an advertising agent for the Elgin line of aviation instruments from the same time.
Below are a couple of instrument adverts from popular aviation magazines of the time, and I have found many more like them.

It is great that we can find new info about our hobby, that changes almost daily some of our long held views, and isn't the internet a wondrous instrument itself, when used wisely?

Those are some cool little watches. Dig that case side.

Yeah, this is indeed a hobby with a vast amount of history. A lifelong pursuit.

The natural evolution of technology is on a curve that I can't quite grasp. Nice hammer and nail aviation ephemera. Thanks for sharing.

Really great stuff. Enjoyed that immensely.
