Valuation of cash sale vs trade

Valuation of cash sale vs trade

Postby tiktok » August 15th 2017, 10:17am

I found a guy with a watch I want who is looking for a watch I own. He had it on WUS for $1500 and bumped it seven times with no success. He relisted it for $1650 trade value. Does he have his head up his ass or is this a reasonable pricing: 1650/1500. I have always traded on 47th Street, my sapphires for a watch so this is alien to me. Seems oretty jacked up to me. Any thoughts on this deal appreciated.

I'd compare the price of the watch you want to others on Ebay or another similar source..do the same w/ the one you'll trade in...if the #'s then make sense, go for the trade..if not, negotiate for a better deal...it seems as if the watch he has is either priced too high or is a slow seller..

Fair valuation is in the eye of the beholder. Figure out a price you feel is fair and offer him that in cash, if he takes it fine, if not well you can choose to overpay.

When it comes to trades on both sides, you fall into the value in the eye of the beholder. Which is why some people have a higher trade value. Think of it this way, if you value your watch at $1500, why not just sell it and give me the cash, why trade it to me?

The only way to find a fair price is to actually find someone willing to give you the amount of cash you are looking for. If you can't find a seller, well you are too high.

I seem to get fucked on sales and trades, so I'm no help. I do however wish you the best of luck.

Of course after I sent the guy a bunch of photos and did whatever due diligence I could he didn't get back to me today. I've sold my cars easier than these damn watches.

I honestly don't understand guys who would rather trade than just sell; selling on WUS is becoming such a pain in the fucking ass already, trading must be that much harder.

I have quit selling there. If I don't sell it here, then it goes on eBay. WUS is overflowing with some real Cheeto lovers as of late.

He had a watch I want and vice versa but I ignored the statement where he said he wanted to trade down to a Tudor from his $1600 masterpiece.
