Under rated watches <$3500

Under rated watches <$3500

Postby koimaster » August 3rd 2017, 2:56pm

A question posed here by a new member a couple of days ago got me thinking about this. We all know Seiko, Omega, Rolex etc. But what watches under $3500 are under rated? The $3500 figure is a mark for either a new watch or pre-owned.

My own thoughts are Bremont, Oris, Maurice Lecroix and Ball.

Chopard LUC Pro One, often on Watchrecon for less than 3K. Five/fifteen years old.

Yep, about four years ago, Chopard issued a diver - can't remember the model - that is one of the hottest watches I've ever seen at any price point. Couldn't pull the trigger but wanted to.

My choices: Oris, Longines (yeah, I said it), Alpina. From personal experience - and I think Tag Heuer makes a couple of rock solid autos, though I realize the very mention of the brand makes some self-styled WIS reach for a vomit bag.

Agree with Koi on Bremont and Ball. I'll add Citizen's Signature line. Would have included Zodiac...but they are getting a lot more attention from WIS recently.

I'm a big fan of the Corum Bubble series the older ones not the newer ones I wanted this one
for the longest time also would love to add this Bvlgari 2000m diver don't know if they can be had
at or around $3500?

Orient Star. Almost absurdly good watches for the money, which is far, far below $3500.

And also Brietling, at least their three-hand divers.

All mentioned are good choices- I think the most underrated on the list is Maurice Lacroix. One of a couple'a brands, if not the only one who uses in-house manufactured cases and in-house movements in watches that can be had for this price, especially when they're available at the grey outlets for 60% + off.

Nice lookin' also, too.

ML is definitely very good. One I forget to add was Perrelet, though they sometimes have rather odd designs, their quality is top notch

Good choice, indeed.

Sure is. I would love to have a regulator and this is a beauty.

Shinola uses a rather pedestrian movement, but I liked the design. Would only consider if they release a mechanical version
