It says 39.99 monthly then says billed annually $399.99.

Yeah, it's $40/month if you want to post on forums with Photobucket.

Imgur is free and works great. Tutorial here:

I just checked on my plan. I have been paying $9.99 per year for 3 years now, 10GB storage and ad free. I'll move elsewhere if they come asking for more this year in November when my account is up for renewal. Until then I will take the lazy way out and leave my stuff there.

Here's a some joy from my photobucket library:

I am going to encourage members to contact their state attorney and file a consumer fraud complaint against photobucket.

Even downloading has proven to be a fraud in many ways. In truth, photos are being held hostage by this company.

Hello,

Thank you for emailing us. There is a known issue with the album download feature and our team is currently looking into it.

In the meantime, you can still download your images with the following steps:

•Step 1. Login to your Photobucket Account

•Step 2. Navigate to your library page

•Step 3. View a photo and click the download button

•Step 4. The picture will be saved to your computer

Thank you for your patience at this time.

Luckily for me, every pic on Photobucket was first on my computer, so it was easy to move on. I would have done it long ago if I had realized just how easy it is, and how superior imgur is.

So now when you log on to PhuckBucket, there's a red banner that reads "Please review the latest changes at Photobucket"

And here's what it says when you click it:

Please review the latest changes at Photobucket.

Photobucket’s 14-year history, the Company amassed over 100 million
registered users, over 15 billion images stored, 2 million daily uploads
and 60 billion photos accessed monthly.

2. What is 3rd Party Hosting?

Photobucket defines 3rd party hosting as the action of embedding an image
or photo onto another website. For example, using the <img> tag to
embed or display a JPEG image from your Photobucket account on another
website such as a forum, auction listings, blog, etc.*

3. Benefits of Photobucket’s 3rd Party Hosting

Easy to Use – Upload a photo from any device and copy the embed code with
one click to host a photo with no development or technical knowledge
required
Competitive, fixed pricing
Offers the only unlimited 3rd party hosting plan (Commercial and Personal
Use)

3rd Party Hosting Specifics

1. What plans offer 3rd Party Hosting?

you will continue to have all the privileges you have enjoyed including 3rd

PHOTOBUCKET LAUNCHES UNLIMITED 3RD PARTY HOSTING PLAN

Posted by Photobucket Press+ on Jul 6, 2017 in Press Releases | No Comments
Denver, Colorado (July 6, 2017) One of the world’s leading photo storage and hosting sites has begun notifying its largest commercial scale users that it will now offer an unlimited third party hosting subscription plan.

John Corpus, CEO of Photobucket, said that historically the company “relied heavily on advertising revenue but that major industry-wide changes in the advertising space have greatly impacted Photobucket, including the rise of ad blockers and the Company’s explosion of 3rd party hosting that generates zero revenue.”

“This model is no longer sustainable,” Corpus added.

Corpus noted that seventy-five percent of Photobucket’s costs originate from non-paying users leveraging 3rd party hosting. The majority of the industry has either eliminated 3rd party hosting or imposed variable pricing based on consumption. To address the market, Photobucket has added unlimited hosting to its Plus 500 Subscription plan at a competitive fixed price.

Photobucket modified its Terms of Use in the second quarter of 2017. The Company began notifying non-paying users through email and on-site messaging that the Plus 500 plan offers 3rd Party Hosting for both commercial and personal use requiring no development or technical experience. Photobucket users who elect not to subscribe to the Plus 500 plan are always able to access all of their photos and migrate to alternative solutions if they so desire.

In Photobucket’s 14-year history, the Company has amassed over 100 million registered users, over 15 billion images stored, with 2 million daily uploads and 60 billion photos accessed monthly.

“With all the photos stored and shared, nearly everyone interacts with a Photobucket hosted image on at least one page across the web over a sixty-day period, putting the photo hosting service as a significant part of the internet,” Corpus said.

Corpus said that “initial results for the Company are positive. This path to a more sustainable business model allows us to develop an even more robust product to meet our customers’ needs.”

“We are grateful for our customers’ continued support,” he added.

Photobuckets feature which is supposed to let you download your pictures does not appear to work either. I have tried twice now to get my pictures back and it won't download. They say they will notify you by email when your file is ready. If it's not ready after a week I don't think I'm ever getting them back.

That's why I hated them -- nothing eve worked correctly, my albums were always screwed up, many times it took several tries to get the pics to the site, and when I contacted them, they were always going to notify me when the problem was fixed, which was never. PB wasn't worth using for free- pay them to boot- Like hell. Like I said, they wouldn't be worth using if they were paying me.

Re: Photobucket Breaks Image Links

Postby AlbertaTime » August 6th 2017, 12:15pm

I've had my own domains for years now (rongood.net and amchpr.com), and the only hitch was when I moved amchpr.com to Weebly, not checking first whether they had FTP hosting (they don't).

Lots of my links were broken, but I just went to my backup (back up! back up! back up!), reposted my amchpr.com photo folders to rongood.net, and I fix the broken links as I see them. (And if you see any from time to time, please lemme know).

That said, I'm a huge fan of Weebly. It's dead easy to use, with a very low learning curve, and: "All Weebly website plans include unlimited storage and bandwidth (even free sites)." (from their website). I have a "pro" plan that costs me $120/yr but the starter plan for $80 would serve most folks--even me, probably--just as well.

You can build galleries, and link to the photos in the galleries by right-clicking an image and grabbing the image URL, like I did with this one, From this gallery...http://www.amchpr.com/wrist-shots.html:

Image

I also have hidden photos galleries. I can link the photos to here and elsewhere, but the hidden galleries don't show in search engines, nor on my site menu. Really, you'd likely have to know the actual gallery page names to find them.

Note: Weebly does have a free option that will work, if you don't mind a "yourusername.weebly.com" URL, and a weebly ad and link on your site--but they could change the rules on that, like any other free service. Buying your own domain name costs about $24 a year if you buy with through Weebly, but lots of domain hosts cost about $10 to $15/yr and linking a domain to Weebly is easy: https://hc.weebly.com/hc/en-us/articles/216649697-Transferring-Your-Domain-to-Weebly

When you have your own domain, you have huge control.

I've been using Fotki since WathGeeks. They have a free service but I pay $44/yr for private galleries, fullsize image access, etc. Only complaint is their mobile app leaves much to be desired. I believe their image links are always downsized to 800x600 but haven't tested that lately.

Yup. For the price of a strap you are literally king of your own domain and can do as you wish with your pics in perpetuity.

It costs me $10 a yr to keep my domain registered and about $30 a yr for it to be hosted

It amazes me people continue to futz around with 'free services' instead

Yup, me too. I mean Weebly is expensive compared to to that--still way cheaper than photobucket--but *any* domain host usually has a fairly easy to use "sitebuilder" that will work well enough for photo hosting.

tzimiscespics.com is available to buy for $12. You then pay a basic fee for that to be hosted somewhere.

Hosting just means they give you space on their server and if anyone puts that address in their browser or clicks a link to pics you uploaded it will go to them and load in their browser as normal. Almost everything on the net, including Watchlords, is doing exactly that.

An aussie registry and host, but you get the idea: https://www.crazydomains.com.au/domain- ... espics.com
