Switzerland Shipments abroad fell 5.7% compared to the same period last year.

Swiss watchmaking did not confirm in April the return to growth of its exports observed the previous month, after 20 months of decline. Deliveries abroad fell 5.7% year-on-year to 1.53 billion francs.

Adjusted for working days, with three fewer days due to Easter, the April drop is limited to 1.9%. Commenting on the performance in a comment published on Tuesday, the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry (FH) said it anticipated a sharper decline than the 5.7% reported.

In detail, it appears that the first two outlets suffered a sharp decline, with -16.8% for Hong Kong and -19% for the United States. China, on the other hand, confirmed its good performance, with a growth of 38.9%. After four months this year, total exports fell by 3.6% to 6.06 billion francs. (ps / nxp)
